YAHUKIMO - In a heartfelt celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian Navy Marine Corps, the HABEMA Marines Task Force (Infantry Battalion 6) took an inspiring step to make a difference. On Monday, November 18, 2024, a blood donation social service was held at the Dekai Post in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, under the leadership of First Lieutenant Dani.
Amid their critical mission of securing the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, the Marines demonstrated their dedication to humanity by addressing an urgent health concern in the local community. This initiative was a direct response to the emphasis placed by Task Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, who encouraged the troops to prioritize the welfare of the people in their area of operation.
Earlier in November, First Lieutenant Dani engaged in meaningful discussions with the Director of Dekai General Hospital (RSUD), Mr. Glent Nurtanio, about the health challenges faced by the community, including the urgent need for blood donations. Their collaboration culminated in the successful organization of this life-saving event.
The blood donation drive was a joint effort between the Marines and the medical staff of RSUD Dekai. The impact was immediate, with Mr. Glent expressing deep gratitude after the event:
*"Thank you, Commander HABEMA Marines, for this noble act. Our blood stock has been replenished, and many lives will be saved. God bless you all."*
The initiative also earned high praise from Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, the Commanding General of HABEMA Operational Command, who lauded the Marines' humanitarian efforts:
*"This blood donation drive exemplifies the Marines' unwavering commitment to community welfare and development in Papua. It reflects the spirit of professionalism and responsiveness that defines TNI."*
This initiative not only addressed a critical health need but also strengthened the bond between the Marines and the local community. It showcased the Marines' adaptive approach to their mission, seamlessly integrating humanitarian efforts with their operational duties.
In a region where challenges abound, the HABEMA Marines’ act of compassion stands as a beacon of hope. It is a reminder that their presence is not just about security but also about inspiring progress and unity for a brighter future in Papua.
